I was on Kim’s amazing six-day tour of the Asheville area. We covered so much ground in that time. You really need that time to see the city and the highlights of the surrounding area, which I would never have found on my own. It amazed me that she was able to coordinate the touring part with meals, events, and activities. Our van driver was very knowledgeable too. Scheduling of activities ran very smoothly and not rushed, yet we got to do and see so much. I can’t imagine how much planning goes into this trip. Thank you, Kim.

Trip Overview
We begin in Slovenia’s charming and vegan-friendly capital, Ljubljana, before venturing out to the alpine beauty of Lake Bled and the country’s short but striking Adriatic coastline. Time in Piran offers a chance to slow down by the sea, with walks through the old town and a sailboat experience providing a different perspective on the coast.
From Slovenia, we cross into Italy by ferry across the Adriatic Sea, exploring Venice’s canals before continuing north to Lake Garda. Here, the ferry travel continues, connecting towns and villages, and creating a scenic conclusion to the journey. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a wide range of thoughtfully prepared vegan meals, showcasing the best of Slovenian and Italian plant-based cuisine.
Itinerary
After arriving in Ljubljana, our first day together is kept intentionally light, giving everyone time to settle in and get an initial feel for Slovenia’s capital. We’ll head out for a gentle walk through the city, taking in its architecture, riverside setting, and relaxed atmosphere without any pressure or packed schedule. As evening approaches, we’ll see the city from the water during an early evening boat trip along the river, offering a calm and scenic introduction to Ljubljana. The day ends with a shared dinner, providing a relaxed start to the journey ahead.
On our first full day, we travel beyond the city for a day trip to Lake Bled, one of Slovenia’s most beautiful natural settings. Framed by alpine scenery, the lake offers a striking contrast to Ljubljana and time to simply enjoy the views. We’ll sample a regional specialty with a vegan version of the famous Bled cake before heading out onto the water. An electric wooden boat provides a peaceful way to experience the lake from a different perspective, rounding out a day centered on scenery and simplicity.

Day 1: Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
We leave Ljubljana behind today and travel by bus to Piran, Slovenia’s small but mighty stretch of Adriatic coastline. Set on a narrow peninsula, the town feels immediately different from the days before, with the sea shaping both its rhythm and scenery. After arriving, we’ll spend time walking through the old town, exploring its streets at a relaxed pace before making our way uphill to a viewpoint overlooking the coast. From here, wide views across the Adriatic offer a rewarding perspective on this unique corner of the country.
Day four is spent out on the water, experiencing the Adriatic Sea by sailboat. With the coastline stretching out around us, the focus is on enjoying time at sea rather than rushing between sights. Sailing offers a peaceful way to take in the views, feel the openness of the water, and appreciate Piran’s setting from a different angle. There’s space to relax on board, enjoy the changing scenery, and simply take in the experience. It’s a day that highlights the coastal side of the journey and provides a refreshing contrast to the city and inland landscapes explored earlier.

Day 4: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
This morning, we cross the Adriatic by ferry, leaving Slovenia behind as we make our way to Venice. Arriving by water offers a memorable introduction to the city and a sense of its unique relationship with the sea. After settling in, we’ll head out on foot to explore, moving through neighborhoods that reveal everyday Venetian life alongside the city’s famous canals. Our goal is observation rather than sightseeing, with time to wander, pause, and take in the details that make Venice so distinctive.
The next day is devoted to further exploring Venice. With the city laid out for walking, we’ll continue discovering its winding streets, waterways, and quieter corners, experiencing how life unfolds beyond the main thoroughfares. There’s time to appreciate the rhythm of the city, from small bridges and canals to open squares and hidden passages. Without a packed agenda, the day allows for unhurried exploration, soaking up the atmosphere and character that have made Venice unlike anywhere else.

Day 6: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Travel today takes us by train from Venice to Lake Garda, marking a shift from city waterways to wide, open landscapes. The journey offers a change of scenery as Italy’s northern countryside gives way to lakeside views. With mountains rising around the lake and the shoreline setting the tone, the day is all about allowing the beauty of Lake Garda to come into focus without any sense of rush.
Ferry travel shapes day eight, allowing us to move between Lake Garda’s towns and villages at an easy pace. Each stop offers a slightly different atmosphere, from quiet waterfronts to lively lakeside centers, with time to wander, pause for views, and enjoy the setting before continuing on.
