Food Tours in Prague and Vienna
Kutná Hora, Mikulov, Lednice Palace

Experience incredible architecture and two of Europe's best vegan food scenes!

Prague and Vienna are two European capitals that rival the likes of Rome, London, and Paris in stunning architecture and multi-cultural glamour. This multi-day tour of Prague and Vienna will take us to all the gorgeous sites across both cities, where cobblestoned streets and centuries-old castles blend with modern galleries and bustling riverside promenades. We’ll visit the must-see landmarks but also have the opportunity to venture off the beaten path for a more local experience.

Art and history buffs, as well as anyone who loves beautiful scenery and architecture, will have their heads turning and cameras snapping all around. Art Nouveau, Baroque, Neoclassical, Secessionist – you’ll find spectacular examples of it all, sometimes just steps apart. After we’re done soaking up the beautiful scenery, we’ll dive into the local food scenes of both cities on food tours and take a cooking class in which we’ll learn how to create vegan versions of traditional Austrian dishes.

There’s a good amount of walking involved, but the views make it worth every step. And true to both cities’ cosmopolitan spirit, we have an incredible lineup of vegan restaurants to keep us fueled throughout the days.

Trip Overview

Our 8-day vegan Prague and Vienna tour begins with an airport transport in Prague to our hotel, where check-in is at 3pm. That evening, we’ll have a welcome dinner to get to know each other the first night and prepare for our first full day that includes a walking tour of the Old Town and the New Town in the morning, followed by lunch and an afternoon exploring the Prague Castle.

On Day 3, we’ll continue our walking tour through the Hradčany district and Malá Strana (the “Lesser Quarter”). After lunch, we’ll hop on an electric boat for a totally different view of the city one you simply can’t get from the riverbank. Day 4 is all about Prague’s thriving vegan food scene, with a guided food tour in the late morning. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to keep exploring on your own or relax in one of the spots we’ve discovered together.

Day 5, we head to Vienna by private van, with stops in Kutná Hora, Mikulov, and the UNESCO-listed Lednice Palace. On Day 6, we get our first real taste of Vienna with a walking tour covering the grand Ringstrasse, the Hofburg Palace, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, amongst others. That afternoon, we’ll take a cooking class and learn how to make vegan versions of authentic Austrian dishes. The next day we’ll keep exploring the city, but this time on a food tour, where we’ll discover various vegan gems Vienna has to offer. After dark, we’ll have a chance to see the city in a different light after the sun sets.

We start Day 8 with a visit to Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, the sprawling former imperial summer residence that served Austria’s rulers for more than 200 years. After lunch, you’ll have some free time to explore the city one last time.

Woven throughout all the sightseeing and activities will be all the well-loved vegan restaurants each city has to offer. On a Veg Jaunts and Journeys tour, you never have to worry about where you’re going to eat. We’ve done all the restaurant research for you ahead of time, so you can focus on having an exciting, memorable trip vacation, with some time to relax too.

Itinerary

Our journey begins with a transfer from the Prague airport to our hotel. Check-in is 3pm, but if you arrive early, no worries – the hotel is centrally located, so it’s easy to head out and start exploring on your own. That evening, we’ll come together for a welcome dinner, a vegan feast where you can get to know your fellow travelers.

On our first full day in Prague, we’ll dive into the city’s history with a guided walking tour through the winding streets of Old Town and New Town. Keep an eye out for the intricate Astronomical Clock – the Prague Orloj – mounted on the Old Town Hall. Built in the 1380s, it’s still the oldest working clock of its kind in the world, complete with spinning automatons, a dial that tracks the position of the sun, moon, and constellations, and the featured statues that move when the clock strikes each hour.

The tour ends in the New Town and a visit to Wenceslas Square, where the Velvet Revolution in 1989 brought about the end of communist rule in Czechoslovakia. After lunch, we’ll spend the afternoon at Prague Castle, which is not only the official residence and workplace of the president of the Czech Republic, but also one of the largest ancient castles in the world!

Meals included:

Day 1: Dinner

Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

On Day 3, we’ll explore Hradčany and Malá Strana. We’ll start by heading up the hill for some of the best panoramic views in the city, then make our way back to the winding streets of picturesque Malá Strana. There, you’ll really feel the genius loci and understand why travelers keep coming back to Prague. Along the way, we’ll get an overview of Prague and learn about Czech history and culture. In the afternoon, we’ll hop on an electric boat to see the city from a different angle. After departing from the dock at Čech Bridge, we’ll cruise through central Prague, glide past the Rudolfinum, beneath Mánes Bridge and Charles Bridge, alongside romantic Kampa Island and its little Čertovka canal, and around the Old Town Bridge Tower. The whole time, Prague Castle and the Petřín lookout tower keep watch from above, overlooking the rooftops of the Lesser Town.

After breakfast on Day 4, you’ll have some free time before we set off on a food tour in the late morning. Prague’s vegan food scene doesn’t get nearly enough credit, with a hidden world of vegan culinary delights waiting to be discovered. Imagine wandering the cobblestone streets of this enchanting city, surrounded by centuries of history while indulging in delectable vegan dishes along the way. The rest of the day, you can explore on your own or simply rest up for the journey ahead.

Day 4: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

The next day we’ll travel to Vienna, with a few worthwhile stops along the way. First up is the charming old town of Kutná Hora, once a wealthy medieval silver-mining city. We’ll wander its picturesque squares and historic burgher houses, and take in the panoramic views that made Kutná Hora a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From there, we continue to the picturesque town of Mikulov, where a hilltop castle watches over a mix of Baroque and Renaissance architecture below. The town is also part of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO-listed region known for its grand chateaux and beautiful countryside. Our last stop is Lednice Palace, where we’ll stroll through the breathtaking gardens before continuing on to Vienna in time for dinner.

On Day 6, we’ll get to know Vienna with a guided walking tour, exploring some of the city’s biggest highlights, such as the Hofburg (the former imperial residence of the Habsburgs), the grand buildings on the Ringstrasse, St. Stephen’s cathedral, and the Belvedere Palace (once Prince Eugene’s Baroque summer residence), among others. After getting an overview of the city, we’ll switch things up in the afternoon with a cooking class, where we’ll learn how to create vegan versions of traditional Austrian dishes. And the best part of cooking class? Getting to eat your creations afterwards!

Day 6: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

On Day 7, we’ll keep exploring Vienna, but this time from a culinary point of view. Our food tour will take us to hidden vegan gems that you wouldn’t find on your own! After indulging in Viennese delicacies, we’ll keep exploring the city after the sun sets and we can see everything in a different light.

After breakfast on Day 8, we’ll spend the morning strolling through the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace, once the Habsburgs’ main summer residence and still one of the country’s most important architectural, cultural, and historic monuments. After lunch, you’re free to explore the city on your own one last time before our last dinner together.
