Join us on a magical journey from Oslo to Bergen in the heart of the fjords

Welcome to our first tour of Norway! We designed this journey to show you the best of two worlds—from the energy of lively capitals to the quiet charm of serene small towns that offer fascinating history, rich culture, excellent food, and easy access to the great outdoors.

Our tour starts in Oslo, a modern city that blends history, culture and nature in a unique way. We spend our time here getting to know the capital through a guided city tour and visits to the Nobel Peace Center and Norsk Folkemuseum, before heading out on a scenic Island Hopping Tour to see a completely different side of the city from the water.

After that, we leave Oslo behind and embark on a journey by railway, bus and ferry into the heart of the fjords, all while experiencing stunning nature along the way. With stops in Voss and Flåm, you have the chance to truly settle in and explore. We catch the Voss Gondola for panoramic mountain views, get up close to majestic natural wonders on a fjord safari, and visit the historic Borgund Stave Church and the breathtaking Stegastein Viewpoint.

Next, we board the world-famous Flåm Railway for the final stretch to Bergen, often called Norway’s most beautiful city. We start with a city tour to get our bearings, wander through Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed wharf of colorful Hanseatic buildings, and explore the surrounding cobbled streets and lively squares. Just don’t forget your raincoat, as Bergen is famously one of Europe’s wettest cities! On our final full day, a vegan food tour takes us on a culinary journey through the city’s best plant-based spots. We wrap up our adventure with a farewell dinner curated just for us and sweeping views from the top of Mount Ulriken.

Trip Overview

This tour begins in Oslo and winds its way to the coast, finishing in Bergen. If you arrive before check-in, you can store your luggage at the hotel and walk around the neighborhood. In Oslo, we stay at an award-winning design hotel in the heart of the city. We start things off with a welcome dinner on the first night where you meet your fellow travelers for the week.

As we make our way toward Bergen, we slow down the pace so you can actually soak it all in. We stop in Voss to catch a gondola ride for panoramic mountain views, followed by a two-night stay in Flåm to truly experience the fjords and stunning nature surrounding us. From there, we board the iconic Flåm Railway for the final, scenic leg into Bergen. After two days of exploring the colorful streets and coastal charm, we wrap up our adventure together following breakfast at the hotel.

Itinerary

Welcome to Oslo! After checking into our hotel in the heart of the city, you’ll have time to settle in. If you land a bit early, you can drop off your luggage and explore the neighborhood before we meet for our first dinner to set the tone for the week ahead.

On our first full day in Oslo, we dive into the city’s history with a guided walking tour, where we learn about how the city evolved over centuries to the modern, lively capital it is today, stopping at landmarks like the Akershus Fortress, Kristiania Torg, and the Royal Palace. After lunch, we step back in time at the Norsk Folkemuseum. It’s an incredible open-air experience where you can wander through historic buildings from across Norway, dating from the Middle Ages to the present. The main attraction is the beautiful Gol Stave Church from the 13th century. We will also learn about daily life and living conditions in Norway from the 1500s to today, with fascinating objects from the museum’s extensive collections.

Meals Included
Day 1: Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

After breakfast on Day 3, we hop aboard Oslo’s fully electric public transportation ferries for a spectacular day of Island Hopping. We’ll glide through the vibrant city streets to Aker Brygge, Oslo’s buzzing waterfront district, and then ferry over to Nakholmen, a charming island known for its picturesque coastal cottages. As we cruise past several other islands, we catch a glimpse of authentic Norwegian island life, where colorful cabins line the shores and locals embrace the slow, scenic pace of the fjord. After exploring Oslo’s island paradise, rich history, and stunning nature, we will head back to the mainland for lunch. The afternoon takes a thoughtful turn with a visit to the Nobel Peace Center to learn about the Nobel Peace Prize, the laureates throughout history, and the man behind the prize.

After breakfast on Day 4, we catch a train to Voss, the gateway to Norway’s most famous fjords. After a quick luggage drop and lunch, we will take the Voss Gondola for a panoramic look of the surrounding mountains. Our home for the night is the historic Fleischer’s Hotel, a spot that perfectly blends modern comfort with old-world Norwegian tradition.

Meals Included
Day 3: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 4: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

The next day, a short bus ride brings us to Gudvangen, where we will board a ferry to Flåm. Our home base for the next two nights is the Fretheim Hotel, a stunning Swiss-style landmark dating back to the late 19th century.

Day 6 we will spend exploring our surroundings. We’re keeping things eco-friendly in the morning with an electric bus tour to the iconic Borgund Stave Church, the panoramic Stegastein Viewpoint and the breathtaking Aurlandsfjellet Scenic Route. In the afternoon, we’ll swap the bus for a boat and head out on a fjord safari for a close-up perspective of Norway’s natural wonders. After a full day of exploring, we will head back to the hotel for a great meal and a chance to unwind.

Meals Included
Day 5: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 6: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

On Day 7, we will leave the quiet small town charm behind as we hop on the train to Bergen. We will board the legendary Flåm Railway, a journey Lonely Planet calls one of the best in the world. It’s a true engineering marvel: Northern Europe’s steepest standard gauge track, relying entirely on “adhesion” (pure wheel-on-rail traction) without the help of gears or cables. As we wind through the valley’s tight curves, we will see some of the most dramatic fjord and mountain scenery in Norway. We will reach Bergen just in time for lunch, check into our hotel, and head out for a walking tour to get our bearings. We will end the day with a great local meal in the heart of the city.

Day 8 is all about food! The day starts off with a vegan food tour that takes us off the beaten path to discover delicious vegan secrets in a city that at first glance might not seem very vegan-friendly. After some afternoon downtime, we will take the cable car up Mount Ulriken for our grand finale. We will share a specially curated 5-course dinner at the top, with panoramic views of the city and fjords beneath us, the perfect end of our journey.

Meals Included
Day 7: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 8: Breakfast

After a final breakfast at the hotel, we will say our goodbyes and head our separate ways, taking back lots of memories of our Nordic adventure.
