The tour ends around 10 AM on the final day after breakfast, so plan your travel accordingly. Throughout the week, we’ll be staying at a sunny, family-owned villa tucked into the artsy and tree-lined neighborhood of Coyoacán. Over the course of eight days, you’ll experience the rich cultural, historical, and culinary layers of this dynamic city through a fully vegan lens. Our itinerary includes a visit to Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul, an awe-inspiring trip to the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan, and an insider’s look into the historic town center.. You’ll enjoy a plant-based cooking class, a folk dance performance at the stunning Palacio de Bellas Artes, and meeting vegan entrepreneurs like a cactus leather startup. And of course, we’ll savor some of the best vegan food in the city from creative modern dishes to meals rooted in ancestral Mesoamerican cuisine. With moments of friendship, artistic inspiration, and ethical indulgence, this adventure offers a uniquely joyful way to experience Mexico City through the spirit of veganism and ahimsa.
Itinerary
Our tour officially begins this evening with a warm welcome and an extraordinary dinner that will introduce you to the flavors, spirit, and heritage of Mexico through its ancestral plant-based cuisine. We’ll gather at one of Mexico City’s most beloved vegan restaurants, where the chefs are passionately reviving Indigenous culinary traditions using local, seasonal, and sacred cooking methods.
As we sit down to our first dinner together, you’ll enjoy lovingly crafted dishes such as tetelas (triangular corn masa pockets filled with beans and native herbs), rich and complex moles made with traditional grinding methods, and cacao-based drinks inspired by pre-Hispanic rituals. Each bite tells a story of cultural resilience and ecological harmony. Over the course of the evening, you’ll meet your fellow travelers, hear about the days to come, and share in the anticipation of the week ahead. There will be time to toast new friendships, soak in the ambiance, and ease into the rhythm of this vibrant city.
This morning, after an optional yoga class, delicious breakfast and orientation, we’ll begin our exploration of the leafy, colorful neighborhood we’re lucky enough to call home during our time in Mexico City. One of the oldest areas of the southern part of the city, it has managed to preserve its cobbled streets, architecture, and bohemian spirit. It is a place where artists, intellectuals, and revolutionaries have gathered for centuries and today we’ll walk in their footsteps.
Our first stop is the iconic Casa Azul, the former home of Frida Kahlo. This vibrant blue house is a window into Frida’s complex world of art, love, pain, and political passion. As we move through her preserved living spaces and gaze upon her paintings, clothing, and artifacts, we’ll gain a deeper sense of how this extraordinary artist used creativity to channel her personal and cultural identity.
For the rest of the day, we’ll take a slow walk through the heart of the plaza, local artisan markets, and the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista, one of the oldest churches in the Americas. Along the way, we’ll pause to reflect on the stories held in the architecture, the murals, and the living energy of the neighborhood itself.
In the early evening, we’ll take part in a hands-on vegan cooking class led by a local chef. Using fresh, regional ingredients you’ll learn how to prepare classic dishes like tamales, salsas, and aguas frescas with a compassionate twist. As the sun begins to set, the kitchen will turn into a festive space where we’ll share the meal we’ve created, enjoy live music or a curated playlist of Latin rhythms, and celebrate the day with laughter, storytelling, and community.

Day 1: Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Today we journey beyond the city limits to one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in all of Latin America: Teotihuacan, the ancient “City of the Gods.” After an early breakfast, we’ll make our way to this UNESCO World Heritage site. With a knowledgeable local guide, we’ll walk the Avenue of the Dead, learn about the significance of the Temple of the Feathered Serpent (Quetzalcoatl), and hear stories about the spiritual, political, and architectural legacy left by this civilization long before the Aztecs. You’ll be invited to reflect on the astronomical precision, sacred geometry, and ceremonial significance woven into every stone. The energy of this place is palpable…it invites not just admiration but presence.
The next day, we’ll head into Bosque de Chapultepec, one of the largest urban parks in the Western Hemisphere and home to Mexico’s most important cultural institution: the National Museum of Anthropology. This world-renowned museum houses an extraordinary collection of pre-Columbian artifacts that bring the history of Mexico’s many Indigenous civilizations to life. With guidance from a bilingual expert, we’ll focus our visit on the most iconic galleries, including the colossal Aztec Sun Stone, intricate Maya stelae, and the beautifully preserved Olmec heads. Feel free to explore the museum with the guide or do it at your own pace.
This is more than a museum visit…it’s a profound journey through millennia of art, science, spirituality, and resistance. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the peoples whose traditions continue to shape modern Mexican identity, and see firsthand the sacred objects, textiles, and tools that tell stories of ingenuity and reverence for the Earth.
Following our time at the museum, we’ll enjoy lunch at a contemporary vegan restaurant nearby, where traditional flavors are reimagined with culinary creativity and conscious sourcing. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace whether that means exploring more of the Chapultepec area, relaxing back at the villa, or strolling through Coyoacán’s peaceful streets.
Dinner is on your own tonight or in small groups.

Day 4: Breakfast and lunch
Today we’ll head into the city’s Centro Histórico to explore the layers of post-colonial and Aztec urban life, discovering local vegan street-food stands, secret alleyways, vintage churros shops, and the ancient and modern architecture of the city. The night crescendos with a visit to the Palacio de Bellas Artes, where we’ll witness a stirring folk dance performance. Against the backdrop of stained‑glass curtains and ornate art deco design, the Ballet Folklórico de México will transport us through regional rhythms, costumes, and cultural narratives. It’s an electrifying tribute to Mexico’s regional dancing traditions.
The next day is yours to tailor however you’d like. After optional yoga and breakfast, enjoy a free morning and afternoon to follow your curiosity: explore a new neighborhood, seek out street art and galleries, opt for a restorative massage—or simply engage in slow observation over coffee in a local café. Our team is on hand to help arrange optional activities, small-group excursions, or private drivers if you’d like assistance navigating the day. Wander solo or connect with fellow travelers; maybe some will head to Xochimilco or the museum, while others dive into markets or hidden local corners.

Day 6: Breakfast
Today we’ll step into the effortlessly stylish neighborhood of La Roma, one of Mexico City’s most beloved areas full of creative energy, elegant tree-lined boulevards, and some of the city’s best vegan cuisine. Today will be less about guiding and more about meandering through the neighborhood’s blend of Art Deco mansions, modern art galleries, indie boutiques, and lush urban parks.
We’ll spend the afternoon wandering through charming streets, stopping at a few of our favorite local spots that highlight the neighborhood’s unique mix of history and innovation. For lunch, we’ll dine at a cozy vegan café known for its bold flavors and beautifully plated dishes, celebrating local ingredients with flair. Afterward, you’ll have time to browse bookstores, artisan shops, or simply enjoy a coffee while people-watching in one of the neighborhood’s many leafy plazas.
As the sun begins to dip, we’ll grab some sunset drinks on a rooftop terrace to marvel at the expansiveness of Mexico City around us. Dinner will be at a leafy green vegan restaurant with some of the best dumplings, vegan “mocktails” and desserts in the city.
On our final day together, we’ll begin the morning with an optional gentle yoga class in Casa Jacinta’s serene courtyard. Open to all levels and focused on presence and gratitude, the practice is a grounding way to connect to your body and breath before transitioning out of our journey together.
After yoga, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a few hours of free time. You may want to journal, revisit a favorite café or artisan shop, visit the botanical gardens, or simply rest and take in the quiet beauty of our villa. This spacious morning allows time to reflect, integrate, and prepare to return home with new friendships, memories, and inspiration to carry forward.
In the evening, we’ll gather for a goodbye dinner, where we’ll share reflections, laughter, and hugs before the official close of our adventure. Though our time in Mexico City ends here, the sense of community, compassion, and wonder we’ve cultivated together will linger long after we’ve gone our separate ways. You’ll leave with a full heart, nourished body, and soul lit by the beauty of Mexico.
