Rugged Landscapes and Ancient Healing Energy On This Sedona Vegan Tour

You’ve no doubt heard about how special Sedona is, with its spectacular red rock vistas, vortexes, and arts scene. Located in Arizona’s high desert, with four mild seasons, this large town is surrounded by the Coconino National Forest. Regarded as a sacred and powerful place, Sedona has numerous vortexes, or swirling centers of energy. These sites are conducive to healing, meditation, and self-exploration. And they are often located at Sedona’s most achingly beautiful spots, found among towering red rock formations.

Itinerary

To start off our multi day Sedona tour we will plan to arrive in Phoenix by late afternoon, and we’ll book a shuttle that will take us on the two hour drive to Sedona. We’ll spend our first day settling in and getting to know each other with no scheduled activities on arrival day. There will be a snack available when we arrive in the house, and Mark will whip up a welcome dinner, allowing us plenty of time to settle in and explore our home base for the next week.

Monday, our first full day, begins with a relaxing morning to enjoy breakfast and our serene surroundings. Then we will head out for a thrilling two hour jeep tour which offers stunning views of the Southwest wilderness and red rocks. This tour is not for the faint hearted, as we’ll have a rugged, four-wheeling adventure over and atop red rocks (not to worry, though – these tours are safe and have been running since 1960). During our tour we’ll learn about Sedona’s rich past from our certified guide. After lunch, the afternoon will be free to explore as you wish. We’re happy to drop you off at various places of interest, whether you’d like to visit galleries and shop, or go for a hike. Then we’ll head back to our beautiful house for dinner, after which you might choose to relax at the firepit or in the hot tub.

Meals Included
Day 1: Dinner
Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Today we’ll visit Montezuma Castle National Monument, one of Arizona’s best-preserved cliff dwellings. Begun in the twelfth century, and taking about 300 years to complete, this five story, 20 room Native American cliff dwelling is carved out of an ancient limestone cliff. After exploring its museum and hearing a ranger talk, we’ll have a picnic lunch on the grounds. In the afternoon you’ll be free to explore more of Sedona, or learn some cooking tips from Mark. After dinner perhaps we’ll enjoy a game night?

The next day we’ll drive a little over two hours to visit the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We will stop at a few easy access viewpoints. Then we’ll picnic in the world’s most stunning dining room. If you’ve already been to the Grand Canyon and would prefer to have more time in Sedona, for a spa (not included in tour price) or vortex experience, that is a possibility. After dinner we’ll have time for relaxation back at the house.

Meals Included
Day 3: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 4: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 5 of our trip, we’ll drive less than an hour to the city of Flagstaff, where historic Route 66 runs through the heart of downtown. We’ll visit Riordan Mansion State Historic Park, home to a remarkable example of Arts and Crafts style architecture featuring a rustic exterior of log slab siding, volcanic stone arches, and hand split wooden shingles. We’ll take packed lunches with us. Day 6 is yours to spend as you wish. Explore one or more of the many easy or difficult hikes in the area among stunning scenery, enjoy a local spa, or shop for treasures at Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village. Then we’ll enjoy a last night together in our home away from home.
