Trip Overview

Our Rocky Mountain National Park vegan food tour, as you may guess, centers around this National Park with its beautiful views, alpine lakes and great hiking.

Day 1, we’ll start our trip with a 2.5 hour drive from the Denver airport to our two adjacent houses on Shadow Mountain Lake, where we’ll have a welcome dinner.

Day 2 and 3 of our trip will include some light hiking and wildlife watching in Rocky Mountain National Park and we’ll bring along packed lunches. We’ll have dinner back at the house and free time to just relax or do what interests you.

On Day 4, we’ll enjoy a pontoon ride on Grand Lake followed by free time and dinner back at that house. On Day 5 and 6, we have more opportunities to hike and take in the gorgeous scenery, or an option to rent paddle boards or kayaks on Grand Lake.

Day 7 is our final day and our tour ends after breakfast as we make our way to the airport. We will send each person off with a lunch to-go of leftovers.

All meals are included throughout our trip and all meals are no oil whole food plant based, prepared by Mark, our in-house chef and founder of letseatgreat.com.

We’ll be staying in two houses right near each other on Shadow Mountain Lake.

Itinerary

Please plan to arrive at the airport before 5pm to make it in time for the welcome dinner. We will have an airport pick up in the late afternoon and will then drive 2.5 hours to our houses near Grand Lake.

Meals Included
Day 1: Dinner

Most days of our trip we’ll do some light hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Depending upon the interest and skill level of our participants, we may have two “tracks”–an easy hike and a moderate or difficult hike, and don’t worry there’s plenty to see and plenty of trails (over 300 miles) to choose from!

We will bring packed lunches with us.

We will also seek out opportunities to see wildlife, including elk, antelope, moose, marmots, and bighorn sheep.

We’ll enjoy dinner at our lakeside house.

After dinner options include some board games, nightlife in Grand Lake, or just relaxing.

Meals Included
Day 2: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 3: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Once called Spirit Lake by the Ute Tribe, Grand Lake was formed from glaciers thousands of years ago and is Colorado’s largest and deepest lake. On Day 4 of our trip we’ll enjoy a four hour pontoon boat ride on this historically significant body of water.

Dinner will be at our lakeside lodging.

Meals Included
Day 4: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

On Days 5 and 6 of our trip, we’ll have the option to do more hiking, but there will be the opportunity, if you wish, to rent (at your cost) kayaks or stand up paddleboards on Grand Lake. We will keep a flexible schedule to accommodate the interests of everyone.

Meals Included
Day 5: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 6: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Our tour will end after breakfast on the last day.

We will make an airport drop off depending upon flight times, but please keep in mind we need to vacate the house at 10 am, and the house is about 2.5 hours from the airport. Please book your departing flight for mid-afternoon or later.

Meals Included
Day 7: Breakfast and lunch (leftovers to take on the road with you)

Good to Know

Amount of walking: 3 miles per day (approximate)

Please plan to fly into Denver International Airport early the first day, as we’ll depart for our lodgings in the late afternoon via two or three minivans (2.5 hours). If your best flight option puts you in Denver the night before the tour begins, we can help you book a reasonably priced hotel (at your expense). If you’re flying out on the last day, please remember the 2.5-hour drive to Denver and book flights for later in the afternoon to make sure you catch your plane.
