Explore the three distinct ecosystems that make up this pristine protected wilderness

With over 875,000 acres of congressionally-designated wilderness, Olympic National Park has something for everyone. We will spend time taking in the three ecosystems of: glacier-capped mountain ranges, rugged coastline, and temperate rainforest. Our exploration of the range will have us traveling up past 5,000 feet of elevation to Hurricane Ridge to hike around and take in the vistas of the glaciated Olympic Mountains, tidepooling and whale watching in the Salish Sea along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and hiking along river-lined trails in the Hoh Rainforest. While accessing this park can normally be a daunting task, we have designed our tour to highlight some of the most stunning areas within the northern section of the park and make the most out of our time in this remote corner of the Pacific Northwest.

This tour is active with numerous opportunities for hiking & boating. We will be treated to meals prepared by our chefs, the Cerkvenik team, led by Chef Mark and driven by his passion for the whole food, plant-based no oil diet.

About your guide

This tour will be led by Mairead Sardina with food prepared by Chef Mark Cerkvenik and Sous Chef Lorrie Cerkvenik.

Trip Overview

The tour begins with a 2pm pickup from the Seattle-Tacoma Airport and transportation to Sequim where we will settle in and have our first group dinner. Over the next five days, we will explore some of the most stunning scenery the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Between the food prepared by Chef Mark and the immersive itinerary, all of your senses will be enthralled on this trip. Experience the countless shades of greens and blues associated with this lush landscape as we step into the rugged wilderness of the Olympic Peninsula, all while staying comfortably in the serene lavender-lined town of Sequim.

You will never have to worry about what you are going to eat on a Veg Jaunts and Journeys tour. Mark is our in-house chef and founder of letseatgreat.com. He and Sous Chef Lorrie will be preparing all meals, so you can enjoy the adventures and relaxation of your vacation. The meals will be whole food, with little salt/no oil/no refined sugar, and always plant-based.

The tour will end with a shuttle back to the Seattle-Tacoma Airport on the morning of the 26th, our last day, with the goal of arriving at the airport by 11am. Please see the “good to know” section for more details.

Our final day we will transfer back to Seattle after breakfast.

Private Houses in the town of Sequim

Itinerary

The tour begins with a 2pm pickup from the Seattle-Tacoma Airport, or if you would like to coordinate an independent shuttle you can be dropped off at the main house from mid-day on. We will then make the beautiful drive across the Puget Sound towards our home-base of Sequim where we will settle in and have our first group dinner. The rest of the days of this tour will start with a group breakfast and packing lunches for a day out and about.

On Day 2, our first full day, we will start our trip by driving up to the iconic Hurricane Ridge where we will spend the day hiking the various trails available at the summit. We will have a picnic lunch surrounded by the breathtaking snowcapped mountains of the Olympics. In the afternoon we will return to the house for snacks and free time before dinner.

On Day 3, we will drive to the enchanting Lake Crescent where we will spend our day hiking around the glacier-carved brilliant blue lake. This landmark of Olympic National Park will steal your heart with hikes planned to Marymere Falls on the south shore and Devil’s Punchbowl on the north shore of the lake. After a full day at the lake we will drive back to the house for snacks & dinner.

On Day 4, we will be starting bright and early for our longest day of the trip – our visit to the Hoh Rainforest. The Hoh Rainforest is a true wonderland of green and one of the most picturesque places in the world. It offers something for everyone with trails like the Hall of Mosses, a quick 0.8 mile loop, and the Hoh River Trail, which if taken to completion requires overnight permits and is over 35 miles, but is equally nice to hike for as long as time allows. We will stop into the visitor’s center and enjoy a picnic lunch before driving back to the house in the afternoon for snacks & dinner.

On Day 5, we will head to a beach favored by locals that sits along the Strait of Juan de Fuca called Salt Creek Recreation Area. We will enjoy a morning of low tide exploration with tidepools known for immense biodiversity and stunning waters. After a picnic lunch we will head into Port Angeles and jump aboard the Puget Sound Express for an afternoon of whale watching to observe and learn about local wildlife.

On Day 6, our last full day we will have a more relaxing agenda with us driving to Port Townsend which sits at the most NorthEastern tip of the Olympic Peninsula. You will be free to explore the historical monuments and trails within Fort Worden Historical State Park at your leisure or opt to be dropped off in town to walk through the “village-by-the-sea” which is described as having an “artistic soul”. We will head back to Sequim in the afternoon where you will have the option to have free time at the house or head out to see more of the town of Sequim.

On Day 7, we will need to have an early morning of breakfast packed to go or eaten early so that we can prepare for the long shuttle back to the airport. We will provide drop off to the Seattle Tacoma (SEA) by 11 am. Good to Know
